I’ve been given the privilege of taking home a brand new Lexus ES350 for a day for “learning purposes”. My new job entails learning the Lexus line-up inside- and- out and teaching our customers how to use everything. This car is ridiculously nice and has a 1600 watt Mark Levinson sound system and tech features up the wa-zoo. Help me be an expert and ask me anything!

How’s the road noise?
How does it feel to park?
Would you rather fight one hundred duck sized horses or one horse sized duck?

What are all the different things you can have the digital instrument “cluster” display?
How many different speeds do the windshield wipers have?
How many bodies fit in the back?

It is really on a whole-nother level of quiet. Compared to either of my LS400's it is whisper quiet.
Parking this thing is a PLEASURE. I have never been a big proponent of backup cameras and all those other I-cant-drive-do-it-for-me nannies, but this baby has 4 cameras on all its sides and gives you a top-down view of your surroundings in reverse or if you ask it to. I could park it 1/4 inch from my Lexus without even looking out the window. I could make the nose of it juuuust barely tap my garage door without leaving a mark its so crystal clear.

It’ll be on my list of things to do. The heated/ventilated seats would surely vent my butt-gases right back at me with defiance though.

On the left side of the screen is a menu that can display all your fuel mileage range, navigation direction, what song youre playing and what source it is from, as well as access all the nanny-features like cross-traffic alert, radar cruise control, Lane-keep-assist and vehicle maintenance items. It is not super configurable, but you can access a whole heap of information through it.
The windshield wipers have 3 set-your-own speeds as well as 5 sensitivity settings for the rain-sensing wipers. The wipers also have a heating bed underneath the m at the base of the windshield so they never get frozen in place.

I estimate 4 bodies would fit in the trunk, with room for a shovel to bury them with. It is on par with my Lexus LS400's for sure.

Oppo, asking the questions that matter.
Can I special order it in that nice olive green we were talking about earlier?
Is there a numerical representation for the volume level? If so, how high does the number go?
RWD, manual, turbo, supercharger, popup headlights, massive wing, GPS electronically adjustable suspension, built-in tent a la Aztek , cooling massage seats, gold badges. Pick two to add to the car.

Oh, real question. Can you set the camera feed to show up even while driving? It drives me insane that the majority of manufacturers don't allow that

I will have to test this. I know I can bring up the front-vi ew camera at parking-lot speeds, but I am almost positive it will auto shut-off above a certain speed. There is no GOOD reason for staring at your infotainment screen while traveling at 45mph, that’s basic safety and anti-st upidity limitation

There was once I drove a dealer car. Brand new.
I opened the door and out of habit I threw my foot out and smudged the brand new tan interior VW EOS with my black soled shoe. (2007 local VW show)
Would the Lexus have a spot to leg out on the door panel and not be smudged?
I was quite embarrassed, but this is the photo I took.
And one of these is it.

The sunlight-green is a no-cost option color, and it is rare because we only have 1 on our lot of 300 cars, and 30+ of those cars are ES’s.
The audio indeed has a numerical representation, it goes up to 60 I assume. At 55 I was shaking the mirrors with Bass and dared not go any louder. It is the nicest audio system I have ever experienced . 17 speakers, 1600 watts, part of a $3000 option package w/navigation.
Being an OPPO I would choose RWD and massaging seats. Honestly it is the first FWD car I’ve driven that didn’t feel like torque-steering garbage and I think its a fine chassis for FWD.
The seats are already cooled and ventilated. However, if you want RWD you can simply step up to the IS or GS or LS. I believe the LS has massaging seats, I should get to play with one of those when they trust me more with a $100k car. This car is $52k as optioned.

Think of it as a better rear view mirror. Especially in cars with poor rear visibility having a constant view directly behind you can be a huge help. And don’t even get me started on work vehicles, without rear windows of any sort...
I jury-rigged an always on rear view camera setup on a 30ft box truck using a 14" x 9" screen. Soon after all vehicles were similiary equipped. Minor accidents caused by employees (and by others) went from an average of 50/year to 6/year. Idk. I drive a Miata. I’m used to 360° of vision, and it’s the single most important part of staying safe on the road for me. I try to bring any other vehicles I have as close to that level as possible

Not that I can tell. The tach changes a bit between Eco, normal, and sport mode, but there’ s no customization for the center t achome ter.

There is no good kick spot on the lower door panel, but its ex tremely solid and I would bet any smudge would be easily taken off with some APC.

I would keep the voice-activation button and honestly that is all. The rest can bugger off. Maybe the cruise control buttons? But im used to a cruise stalk, not wheel mounted buttons. If it had a cruise stalk, id only want the voice button.

We sell Lexus’ and we’re in Naperville. IDK if I should just blast out the name of my work like that but theres no real way to hide it with that info lol.
Not on chatter yet, have been told about it and will be logging on possi bly this week. Ive been an avid member of clublexus for years now though.
I could see myself doing this job for many years, but I also believe in changing careers and upgrading every few years, Corporate loyalty just doesn’t pay off like it did 20 years ago.

I agree. I prefer the more sporty and stylish models, not the base level cars but this car is ridiculou sl y luxurious and feels very well made. The avalon has a really swoopy sexy rear end that always makes me double take when I see a rare one on the street. They don’t look like toyota’s at all

I much prefer it over cruise buttons on the wheel. I don’t have to reach up to the wheel when cruising on the highway and such, its just right there near my knee, easy to nudge and cancel. Creates a lot less clutter on the steering wheel
